Description
Human Transferrin Receptor which is expressed on proliferating lymphoblasts, majority human tumour cell lines, normal peripheral blood monocytes. The CD71 antibody in routine is used along with the glycophorin A to develop a flow-cytometric approach to the evaluation of erythroid and myeloid dysplasia in patients with Myelodysplatic Syndromes (MDS)1. Another of the applications of the CD71 antibody, is the recount of retyculocites2, immature red corpuscles, without nucleus, that contain ribonucleic acid (RNA). In peripheral blood, they delay approximately a day in losing their RNA and to be become erythrocytes. Its recount provides information on the production of erythrocytes.
