Human Growth Hormone (HGH) is a peptide hormone of somatotropin/prolactin family of hormones which play an important role in growth control. It is a type of mitogen which is specific only to certain kinds of cells, synthesized, stored, and secreted by somatotropic cells within the lateral wings of the anterior pituitary gland. It stimulates growth, cell reproduction, and cell regeneration in humans and other animals, and is thus important in human development. Recombinant Human HGH is expressed in human 293 cells with a molecular mass of 22 kDa.
<1 EU/µg of recombinant protein as determined by the LAL method
Biological Activity Comment
The EC(50) as determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of rat lymphoma line Nb2-11 cells (prolactin indicator cell line) was found to be ≤2 ng/mL.
