Human FGF18 is a member of the FGF family, a group of related proteins having broad mitogenic and cell survival activity. Members of this family have key roles in prenatal development, as well as postnatal growth and tissue regeneration. FGF18 promotes chondrogenesis, through interaction with FGFR3. It has been demonstrated to cause an increase in cartilage in a murine osteoarthritis model. It has also been implicated in the proliferation of tissues, notably the liver and small intestine. FGF18 also signals through FGFR 1c, 2c and 4. Recombinant Human FGF18 is a 20.4 kDa heparin binding growth factor.

Description
A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in sterile distilled water to a concentration not less than 0.1 mg/mL is recommended. Please note, filter sterilization is a must following reconstitution. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers.
Format
Lyophilized PowderLyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in phosphate buffer, NaCl, KCl and EDTA (pH 7.5)
Purity
>95% as determined by SDS-PAGE
Storage
The lyophilized protein is stable for at least one year from date of receipt at -70°C. Upon reconstitution, this cytokine can be stored in working aliquots at 2° - 8°C for one month, or at -20°C for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity.
