Description Specificity: This Polyclonal antibody is directed against human NPC1L1 protein. The product was purified from seurm by protein A chromatography. Expect reactivity with human NPC1L1. Cross-reactivity with NPC1L1 from other sources has not been determined.
Relevance: NPC1L1 encodes a deduced 1359 amino acid protein. Two alteatively spliced transcripts encode truncated proteins, one with 724 amino acids (NPC1L1T) and the other with a 27 amino acid in frame deletion (NPC1L1delE15). NPC1L1 is involved in lipid transport and the intracellular trafficking of cholesterol. NPC1L1 also has a role in diet induced hypercholesterolemia, and may play a role in vesicular trafficking in glia, a process that may be crucial for maintaining the structural and functional integrity of nerve terminals.
