Description	Mouse Double Minute 2 Homolog (MDM2), also known as HDM2 in humans, is crucial in negative regulation of the p53 tumour suppressor. Negative regulation is mediated through both the ubiquitination of p53/TP53, as well as inhibition of p53 transcriptional activation. Reports have indicated an overexpression of MDM2 to be associated with a number of different human tumour types, including soft tissue sarcomas, osteosarcomas, and breast tumours. When co-overexpressed with the CDK4 protein, MDM2 can also aid in the detection of well-differentiated liposarcomas and de-differentiated liposarcoma.
