Description	Caldesmon is considered to be the marker for smooth muscle cell phenotype. Monoclonal antibody to Caldesmon, high molecular weight (120-150kD), in combination with monoclonal antibodies to calponin and smooth muscle myosin heavy chains could be used to distinguish benign and in-situ lesions from invasive carcinomas. Anti-caldesmon antibody may be used to characterize the differentiation process of mammary myoepithelial cells in the developing mammary gland, investigate the nature of myoepithelial cells and study the development of human smooth muscle cells.
