Description	Mesothelin is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol-linked glycoprotein. It is a differentiation antigen that is present on normal mesothelial cells. The biological function of mesothelin is not known, but it is believed that it plays a role in cell adhesion. Mice raised with the knockout version of the mesothelin gene develop and reproduce normally. Mesothelin is over expressed in many human tumors such as mesothelioma, ovarian and pancreatic adenocarcinoma. Due to its differential expression in cancer cells, mesothelin has the potential to be an attractive candidate for cancer therapy.
