Immortalized Human Mammary MUC+ESA+ Epithelial Cells are luminal-derived epithelial cells coexpressing sialomucin (MUC) and epithelial-specific antigen (ESA). It has tight junction proteins, occludin, claudin-1, and the ability to build high transepithelial electrical resistance which is all characteristics of differentiated luminal epithelial phenotypes. It can form acinus-like spheres when cultures on laminin rich gel. These cells have characteristics of differentiated mature human breasts.

Use of PriCoatTM T25 Flasks (G299) or Applied Cell Extracellular Matrix (G422) is required for cell adhesion to the culture vessels. Grow cells in ECM-coated culture vessels unless otherwise specified in the Propagation Requirements below.The base medium for this cell line is Prigrow III medium:Prigrow IV medium (3:1 ratio) available at abm, Cat. No.'s TM003 and TM004.
