Description	Genetically encoded Ca2+ indicator (GECI) can be used for recording the cytosolic Ca2+ in Ca2+ sensitive cells of living mammals. The neuron-specific promoter human synuclein (Syn) driven JGCaMP7b or Red-shift JYCaMP1s calcium sensor can be used for recording calcium signaling of neuronal cells in vitro. CMV promoter-driven GECIs enable measurement of cytosolic Ca2+ in cardiac myocyte and kidney cells in real time. A potential application for the purified GECI lentivirus could include infecting brain cortex neurons to interrogate the neuron activity in vivo. The drug selection marker (puromycin or blasticidin) provides a convenient tool to establish stable cell lines. The product is supplied as a high quality pre-packaged lentivirus, which can be used to establish stable cells within ~10 days in order to visualize Ca2+ signaling with fluorescence. The lentivirus is purified by PEG precipitation and sucrose gradient centrifugation, and is ideal for use with difficult-to-transfect cells including primary and/or thawed cells.
