Only known pyridoxal phosphate-dependent enzyme that contains heme. Important regulator of hydrogen sulfide, especially in the brain, utilizing cysteine instead of serine to catalyze the formation of hydrogen sulfide. Hydrogen sulfide is a gastratransmitter with signaling and cytoprotective effects such as acting as a neuromodulator in the brain to protect neurons against hypoxic injury.
Specificity
Natural and recombinant Human Cystathionine beta-synthase
Subcellular Location
Cytoplasm Nucleus
Detection Range
1.56-100ng/mL

CBS_HUMAN
Linearity
The linearity of the kit was assayed by testing samples spiked with appropriate concentration of CBS and their serial dilutions. The results were demonstrated by the percentage of calculated concentration to the expected.
Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay):Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess intra-assay precision.
Intra-Assay CV: ≤4.9%
Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays):Three samples of known concentration were tested in five separate assays to assess inter-assay precision.
Inter-Assay CV: ≤9.5%
Protein Name
Cystathionine beta-synthase
Recovery
Recovery was determined by spiking various levels of CBS into serum and plasma .
