RPMI-1640 represents an excellent cell culture medium for human and animal lymphocytes, either normal or neoplastic. Murine myeloma cells proliferate in this medium as well, if it is supplemented with 15% serum. Selection media based on RPMI 1640 for the generation of hybridoma are supplemented with HAT or HT. The RPMI media were developed at the Roswell Park Memorial Institute, Buffalo, N.Y., USA and meanwhile a variety of culture media based on RPMI are in use.
This special RPMI-based medium is supplemented with L-glutamine, 10% KMG-2 and 10% FBS (For NFS-60 und TF-1 cells). Contains GM-CSF.
