Direct ELISA

Direct ELISA kits use antigen immobilization on a plate and a single enzyme-conjugated antibody for rapid detection. Although this method simplifies the assay by removing the need to use secondary antibodies, it may be less sensitive and flexible than other types of ELISA tests. It's optimal for swift antigen measurement.

Indirect ELISA

Indirect ELISA uses a primary antibody for antigen targeting and a labeled secondary antibody for signal amplification, enhancing sensitivity. This method offers flexibility and cost-effectiveness, with the trade-off of increased assay time. It's especially suited for sensitive quantification of antibodies in complex samples.

Sandwich ELISA

Sandwich ELISA employs two distinct antibodies for high specificity, capturing the antigen on a plate and detecting it through a 'sandwich' formation. This method offers enhanced sensitivity, particularly for complex samples without the need for antigen purification. It is well-suited for detailed analyses like cytokine quantification in immune responses.

Competitive ELISA ​

Competitive ELISA quantifies antigens through signal competition, where the presence of the sample antigen inversely affects the signal, reducing it as antigen concentration increases. This method is optimal for small molecules and offers high sensitivity for low-concentration analytes.
