Liposomal copper is designed for delivery of copper across the cell membranes. Copper chloride at an inteal concentration of 15 mM is encapsulated in the liposome. The exteal copper concentration is 0.4 mM. To ensure the delivery efficiency, the lipid composition of the liposomal copper is the same as that for a liposomal drug in clinic which is HSPC: DSPE-PEG2000: cholesterol (3:1:1, mass ratio). The average size of liposomes is about 110 nm.
The PEGylated Liposomal Copper (Catalog No. PHPC002CU) includes 2 ml of 15 mM CuCl2 encapsulated in 7 mg/ml PEGylated liposomes. The exteal solution is 0.1 M NaCl.
