Catalyzes the hydroxylation of L-kynurenine (L-Kyn) to form 3-hydroxy-L-kynurenine (L-3OHKyn). Required for synthesis of quinolinic acid, a neurotoxic NMDA receptor antagonist and potential endogenous inhibitor of NMDA receptor signaling in axonal targeting, synaptogenesis and apoptosis during brain development. Quinolinic acid may also affect NMDA receptor signaling in pancreatic beta cells, osteoblasts, myocardial cells, and the gastrointestinal tract.
Specificity
Natural and recombinant Mouse Kynurenine 3-monooxygenase
Subcellular Location
Mitochondrion outer membrane Multi-pass membrane protein
Detection Range
0.78-50ng/mL
Entryname
KMO_MOUSE
Linearity
The linearity of the kit was assayed by testing samples spiked with appropriate concentration of KMO and their serial dilutions. The results were demonstrated by the percentage of calculated concentration to the expected.
Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay):Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess intra-assay precision.
Intra-Assay CV: ≤7.3%
Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays):Three samples of known concentration were tested in five separate assays to assess inter-assay precision.
Inter-Assay CV: ≤8.4%
Protein Name
Kynurenine 3-monooxygenase
Recovery
Recovery was determined by spiking various levels of KMO into serum and plasma .
