Description	Phosphoinositide-dependent protein kinase 1 (PDPK1, also known as PDK1) is a key player in many signal transduction pathways (1,2) including Akt activation and the activation of PKC isoenzymes p70 S6 kinase and RSK (3). Phospho PDK1 is involved in regulating many processes, including differentiation, apoptosis, and cell proliferation. Several PDK1 serine residues are phosphorylated (Ser25, Ser241, Ser393/396 and Ser410) in unstimulated HEK293 cells, and in IGF-1 stimulated cells (4). Ser241 is located on the activation loop; its autophosphorylation is necessary for phospho PDK1 activity (4).
