Human Biospecimens for Research

Sourcing clinically defined samples that meet your specific criteria

Specimen Formats

At BioHippo, in partnership with Capital Biosciences (CBI), we offer a wide range of human biospecimen formats to meet the specific needs of researchers. Each format is tailored to preserve the integrity and quality of the samples, ensuring they are fit for your research purposes.

Fresh Tissues (Normal and Diseased)

We provide freshly collected tissue samples from both normal and diseased donors. These specimens are ideal for immediate use in studies requiring high cellular integrity and viability.

Applications: Primary cell cultures, functional assays, and metabolic studies.

Snap-Frozen Tissues

Snap-freezing is performed within minutes of collection to preserve molecular integrity, making these specimens suitable for a variety of analyses, including:

DNA/RNA isolation
Protein expression studies

These samples maintain high-quality for genomic, proteomic, and transcriptomic applications.

Formalin-Fixed Paraffin-Embedded (FFPE) Tissues

FFPE tissues are widely used in histopathology, allowing for long-term preservation of tissue architecture. These specimens can be used for:

Histological analysis
Immunohistochemistry (IHC)
DNA/RNA extractions for mutation analysis and gene expression studies.

Viably Frozen Tissues and Primary Cell Cultures

These tissues are cryopreserved to retain cell viability, making them ideal for:

Cellular functional assays
Cell expansion and differentiation studies

Primary cell cultures are also available for research in oncology, inflammatory diseases, and other fields.

Blood and Blood Products

We offer a range of blood-derived specimens, including:

Plasma
Serum
Buffy coat (leukocyte-rich fraction)

These samples are available from both healthy donors and disease-specific cohorts, providing valuable resources for studying biomarkers and immune responses.

Viable Cells and Frozen Cell Pellets (PBMC, BMMC)

Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and bone marrow mononuclear cells (BMMCs) are available as viable cells or frozen cell pellets. These specimens are ideal for:

Immunology research
Cell-based assays
Flow cytometry and cell sorting

Bone Marrow

We provide high-quality nucleic acids (RNA and DNA) and proteins derived from human tissues. These derivatives are rigorously processed to ensure high yield and purity, suitable for:

Gene expression analysis
Proteomic studies

Tissue Derivatives: RNA, DNA, and Proteins

Bone marrow samples are available in various formats, including fresh, frozen, or viably frozen forms. They are collected with high viability standards and are crucial for:

Hematology research
Leukemia studies

Special Collection Tubes

For specific research needs, we offer biospecimens collected using special tubes, such as:

Streck Tubes: Preserves cell-free DNA (cfDNA) for liquid biopsy research.
RNAlater and PAXgene Tubes: Stabilizes RNA/DNA in samples immediately after collection, ensuring high-quality molecular analysis.
