The protein encoded by Tyrosine Hydroxylase is involved in the conversion of tyrosine to dopamine. It is the rate-limiting enzyme in the synthesis of catecholamines, hence plays a key role in the physiology of adrenergic neurons. Mutations in this gene have been associated with autosomal recessive Segawa syndrome. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been noted for this gene.Vazin T, et al. Stem Cells. 2008 Jun;26(6):1517-25Pistocchi A, et al. Species
Homo Sapiens (Human)
Specificity
The antibody detects endogenous level of Tyrosine Hydroxylase only when phosphorylated at serine19.
Plays an important role in the physiology of adrenergic neurons.
Protein Families
Biopterin-dependent aromatic amino acid hydroxylase family
Tissue Specificity
Mainly expressed in the brain and adrenal glands.

Purification
Antibodies were produced by immunizing rabbits with synthetic phosphopeptide and KLH conjugates. Antibodies were purified by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific phosphopeptide. Non-phospho specific antibodies were removed by chromatogramphy usi
