Description	Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (omega3-PUFAs) are known to inhibit carcinogenesis, tumour growth and metastasis, whereas omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (omega6-PUFAs) stimulate their effects. The FAT1 gene of C. elegans encodes a omega3-desaturase that catalyses the conversion of omega6-PUFAs to omega3-PUFAs, increasing the amount of omega3-PUFAs. Fat-1 Stable ID8 Cell Line expresses the full-length FAT1 gene from C. elegans through stable transfection. These cells are applicable for studies investigating the effects of endogenous omega3-polyunsaturated fatty acids.

Propagation	Use of PriCoatTM ?T25 Flasks (G299) or Applied Cell Extracellular Matrix (G422) is required for cell adhesion to the culture vessels. Grow cells in ECM-coated culture vessels unless otherwise specified in the Propagation Requirements below.The base medium for this cell line is Prigrow III medium available at?abm, Cat. No.?TM003. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum (TM999)* to a final concentration of 10% and Penicillin/Streptomycin Solution (G255) to a final concentration of 1%.Change media every 2-3 days.Carbon dioxide (CO2): 5%, Temperature: 37.0°C.* Do not use heat-inactivated FBS for cell culture unless specified otherwise.
