Description	Fusing a kinase domain to a homodimerization domain such as the PNT domain of ETV6 can result in activated kinase. The EPHA1 Stable Ba/F3 Cell Line expresses activated EPHA1 tyrosine kinase that is linked to a GFP reporter (GFP-ETV6-EPHA1 in MSCV-puro vector). Ba/F3 cells expressing activated tyrosine kinase become completely dependent on the kinase activity for survival and as a result, the cells can be propagated even in the absence of IL-3.EPHA1 belongs to the EPH family of receptor tyrosine kinases consisting of proteins which bind to ephrin. These proteins are expressed in nearly all tissues during embryo development, and they are involved in a variety of developmental processes which include formation of the nervous system, cardiovascular system, and axon guidance. More recently, they have been implicated in adult biological functions. EPHA1 is expressed in some human cancer cell lines and has been implicated in carcinogenesis.

Propagation	The base medium for this cell line is Prigrow II medium available at abm, Cat. No. TM002. To make the completed growth medium, add thefollowing components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum (TM999) to a finalconcentration of 10%, and Penicillin/Streptomycin Solution (G255) to a final concentration of1%. May be grown with presence of 1 mug/ml puromycin but is not required for optimal cell growth. Carbon dioxide(CO2): 5%, Temperature: 37.0°C.
